Where it all started

Welcome to the Nature Valley Cycling Team blog. This marks our first official push in to the social media space and we hope that you can get to know us better and get a bit of an insight in to where we plan to go. This has been a team two years in the making and we feel that now is the right time to take the next step in getting a little bit more professional.

2014 has been a massive year for us. Across some of the biggest domestic races we have achieved some great results. We have won The BDO Tour of Northland & Rotorua to Taupo Flyer, podiumed at SRAM Tour de Ranges & The Avantidrome Rev,  taken the KOM & Sprint Jersey at SRAM Tour de Ranges & Powerco Tour of Taranaki and achieved loads more results. For the 2014/2015 season, we hope to build from these results and convert podiums and places to the top step. We would also like to look more nationally or internationally to race.

OUR TEAM: is made up of a mixture of youth and experience. In our senior team we have the likes of Sam Lindsay & Paddy Bevin who are in the top tier of NZ riders. We have Nick Bain and Scott Mullaly who are both raced in Europe this season and we also focus on developing the youth. We are excited about Callum Gordon, Corbin Mason Smith and Matt Markby coming on board this year.
Below our senior team we have 3 U17 riders. These guys are some of the best for their age and for them its getting them involved in the team culture and helping them develop.
Lastly there is myself (Brad Tilby), my role is the team manager and the glue of the team (I also ride ok sometimes). My job is to make sure everything happens to plan and call the shots before and during the races.

TEAM CULTURE: The ethos of the team is built on a strong culture. There is no egos in this team and we try and create an environment where everyone is on the same level and it is all about team spirit. Our recent training camp in the Coromandel was a great chance for everyone to get to know each other mile putting some miles in to the legs. While we focus on results at races, the long term driver is to advance riders in to better teams overseas and reach their full potential. Have we done this over the last 2 years? yes, for sure…thats where i see we have truly won.

So lastly, THANKS for reading if you made it this far. Your support means a great deal to us and we want you to share in the excitement we have for this team. Please come and talk to us at races or online….at the end of the day we are just guys riding bikes in a sport that all mutually love. We are always willing to offer advice on racing, recommend a product if you are undecided or just talk bikes.

Thanks

Brad
